Centre was formally inaugurated on 27 June 2002 in a function held at Lawrence Sundaram Auditorium of Loyola College, Chennai by Lester Embree, William Dietrich Scholar in Philosophy, Florida Atlantic University, USA. and Chairman, CARP. V. C. Thomas, Professor of Philosophy, Pondicherry University and Boniface Jayaraj, Rector, Loyola College, Chennai spoke on the occasion. 

Those present on the occasion and felicitated the programme were Joseph Xavier, Principal, Loyola College, Chennai, D. Raja Ganesan, Professor of Education, University of Madras, S. Panneerselvam, Professor of Philosophy, University of Madras, Syed A. Sayeed, Professor of Philosophy, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, and Prasenjit Biswas, Professor of Philosophy, IIT Mumbai.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the Centre, a national conference on Life-world was organized in association with Loyola College, Chennai from 27 to 29 June 2002.  The conference was sponsored by CARP.
